Some feelings last a while and are more like a collection of feelings rather than a single emotion. These are moods- a set of underlying feelings that colour everything for you while in that mood. When people have feelings that change quickly or their feelings isolate them from others, they’re often describe as moody.
Clearly, there are good moods and bad ones, happy, angry, satisfied and depressed. Moods are only problem when they frequently fluctuate from high to low or when the most common mood is a bad mood of some kind. When moods are pervasive over the time, they sometime begin to interfere with your ability to function. At that point, a mood may be developing into a disorder that needs treatment. For instance, if you are often depressed, or you are depressed all the time, you will find that everything is affected by your mood: your sleep, your appetite, your energy, your ability to concentrate. The same is true if you’re anxious all the time or angry. Moods can become so deep that they change the way you see and feel about everything.
